Topland has signed department store TJ Hughes on a 10 year term to take up 30,000 sq ft in the main covered shopping centre for the town. The store is scheduled to open in early October 2015 ahead of the Christmas period.
Also set to for the scheme is the NHS which will be taking a 4,500 sq ft Walk-In Centre at the rear of the former Argos store, with a customer entrance to the health facility off Bridgeman Street.
The deals come on the heels of a recent Burger King letting.
Steve Pope, Topland Group director of property/asset management, said: “The two lettings to TJ Hughes and the NHS are distinctive elements in the delivery of Topland’s strategy for the centre, to drive forward the cash flow and increase the customer appeal of the Saddlers. Alongside Marks & Spencer, TJ Hughes’ new concept department store will provide an additional anchor and bring more choice and diversity, reinforcing and driving forward the scheme’s already high footfall. The Walk-in-Centre will open by the end of the year and will introduce a convenient health service facility to the town centre.”
Pope added: “Topland are keen to acquire further multi-let assets, including shopping centres, where we can add our asset management and operational management expertise."
The Saddlers Centre letting agents are JLL and Wright Silverwood. The scheme is managed by DTZ.
